2022 Franc - $33 Bottle

From the Noetzli Family Vineyard in Maraekakaho where the Three Fates team have been working since 2020. Even in a cooler season, this magnificent hillside can successfully ripen Cabernet Franc; albeit with an eye-wateringly small crop of concentrated grapes. With two very different vintages in bottle, we now understand just how distinctive in character this site is; the raspberries, cherry cola, dried rose petal, and boot polish shine through once more. 

Handpicked, 100% destemmed, wild fermentation. To reflect the cooler growing season, we dialled back the extraction and forwent a post-ferment maceration, instead pressing only 11 days after picking. The wine spent 10 months in seasoned oak before bottling in early 2023.

This is a light and refreshing red with vivid flavours of cherry, raspberry leaf, and a hint of smoke. The tannins are present but give way to a lush juiciness. Enjoy!
