From a dry-farmed block in the Havelock Hills, Hawke’s Bay, managed by our friend Bridget Wilton. The bunches here resemble those we’d come to know in the Noetzli vineyard; small but bearing giant shoulders and plump, green jube-like berries, packed with flavour.
Handpicked and whole-bunch pressed, with the juice settled overnight before being racked to a seasoned puncheon and barrique for a natural fermentation. The wine spent 11 months on lees with moderate stirring.
A charmingly pretty wine, the ever unsuspecting Arneis hits you with complexity. At first approach you’re met with pear, citrus and apricot, but returning to the glass reveals notes of toffee, orange sherbet, chamomile and sweet dill and fennel. A ripe yet refined expression, with well-balanced acidity keeping the palate lively and readying this to be a great food pairing wine.
